San Juan Island is the westernmost island overlooking the Olympic Mountain range and Vancouver Island from long sandy beaches and madronna lines rocky outcrops. Its iconic light house perches above a popular whale viewing stretch and marine researchers are at work supporting a strong environmental protection ethic. Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor have galleries of local made goods and stops at island winery, distiller and cider makers shares the flavor of the islands.
