Lopez Island Made

Lopez is an island of open fields, market gardens, remarkable artists and artisans, hand crafted foods, and a slow way of life that invites guests to step into a different time and place. With beach coves to explore, and forested trails, plus farm stands dotting the roadways selling farm fresh cheeses, hand spun local grown yarns, island wines, and amazing bakeries – some using island grown grains, offer a more sustainable way of living on the land, a key is hallmark of Lopez.

Lopez Village hosts a delightful farmers market and has year-round coffee houses and bakery options with small, unique restaurants that focus on locally grown ingredients. Chimera Gallery is a cornerstone artists coop and the island has three glass studios and multiple fiber artists. With fewer hotels, the island is more about ‘living like a local’, taking strolls to appreciate the views of the Olympic mountains, Turtleback Mtn on Orcas, and the remarkable light on the shimmering water and slanting across luminous fields.

Upcoming Made in the San Juan programs include a new Arts & Wellness tour and
retreat program designed to provide 1:1 access to artists and their studios,
yoga classes, nature experiences, local farms and award winning local foods – all
provided to enrich visitor’s cultural immersion.

We encourage you to enjoy and support the creative makers on
Lopez through our gallery and marketplace, any time of the year. Watch for
special seasonal online markets for great gifts!
