Raven Skyriver

My work is almost exclusively derived from the marine ecosystem. I attempt to place the creatures back in their environment by capturing the fluid nature in molten glass and transferring it into the perceived weightlessness of a swimming creature. I always strive to imbue the work with a hint of life.

Returning home to the San Juans, Raven crowdfunded a hot shop on Lopez Island that opened in 2021, shows his work nationally, and has been featured in group shows internationally. His focus in the area of sculpture, and the depiction of marine life is inspired by his island upbringing, and informed by the creatures that inhabit this fragile ecosystem.

Caldera Glass Studio, a beautiful home glass shop on Lopez Island, WA, is shared by Kelly O’Dell and Raven Skyriver. We make our own artwork here in our hotshop, and on occasion, we do public demonstrations, workshops, studio tours, and holiday sales featuring mostly functional wares, like cups, vases, bowls.
