Darvill’s Bookstore

One of Orcas Island’s most treasured establishments, Darvill’s Bookstore, located on the Main street of the village, offers a carefully curated selection of fiction, non-fiction, classics, children’s books, games, puzzles, and home accessories. Add to that the Bookstore Cafe, serving Washington’s own Batdorf & Bronson coffee (customers tell us it’s the best on the island), and the New York Times, and you’ve got the perfect place to hang out and browse. What could be better than books and an amazing cup of coffee?

The fact that Darvill’s Bookstore has been owned and operated by Jenny Pederson for 35 years says a lot about the fact that independent bookstores can thrive when they are well tended, carefully curated and supported by a strong community. The store is small, but packed with a varied selection of fiction, non-fiction, classics, YA, children’s books, cookbooks, magazines and always best sellers and new releases. Oh, and if what you’re looking for isn’t on the shelf, they can always special order.

Over the years the offerings have expanded to include a carefully selected group of merchandise from wool throws, home accessories, Harvest Label backpacks, a unique selection of greeting cards, games, puzzles and other leisure activities that reflect the same thoughtful curation as the books.

Most importantly, Darvill’s will always stay true to it’s core business: first and foremost, a bookstore. Please come and visit soon.
