Harpswear Textiles

I started quilting before the advent of rotary cutters, Plexiglas rulers or the internet. My first quilt was a true Crazy Quilt with fabrics from every part of my life. Nonetheless that first quilt lived a long and well-loved life.

In the intervening years I’ve picked up valuable techniques and tips. Most importantly, I’ve learned to trust my intuitive color sense.

What happens when you mix color and visual texture through the medium of fabric?

Quilting is textural storytelling. Using a variety of colors, geometric shapes and print sizes in my fabric choices, I bring my pieces to life with vibrancy and fine detail. By manipulating bits of fabric, I bring traditional patterns into the 21st century, narrating my world through fiber art, much the way women have done for centuries.

With no formal training in design or color theory, I work intuitively. My time spent in the studio is always a lesson in life….how to listen, when to push, when to follow.

My current focus is on the rights of Nature and humans and the dance between the two.
