Darleen Nixon has been a glass artist for 20 years in both mediums of lampwork and kiln formed glass. She has studied with some of the world’s leading glass artists and is a member of the Glass Art Society. Her work is featured in galleries throughout the United States.
Working in her studio on San Juan Island in Washington, Darleen continues to evolve in her mastery of glass. Her work is complex in design and yet contemporary in presentation. Each piece of fused glass is hand cut, assembled and fused together in an initial firing in the kiln. In a second kiln firing the glass is then slumped into its final form. Each piece is signed by the artist. The result – unique glass art that will add elegance and drama to any home.
The jewelry is created by sculpting glass over a torch that melts the glass at about 1800 degrees. Each bead is individually designed and shaped in a coordinated concert of the artist’s hands, glass and the flame.
