Taja Wicks is a staple in Orcas Island’s permaculture community.
Teaching from foundational pillars and beliefs such as Life is Relationships, Knowledge is power, and Food is medicine, Taja weaves permaculture knowledge with holistic horticulture methods, nutritional prioritization, processing and preservation and countless other sustainable practices. She emphasizes regenerative health all the way from creating nutrient rich soil working with the rhizosphere below our feet, to the quality of food and herbs that we consume for our microbiome in our stomachs.
Taja teaches workshops and seasonal classes, hosts seed swaps, plant walks, and more around Orcas Island and beyond.
The upcoming 2026 Orcas Seed Swap will be hosted on Saturday March 7th 12pm-4pm at the Orcas Island Public Library.
